Follow Focus

Some of you guys have wanted the option to mount a follow focus to the V3 and Ghost Pro II.

We have now finished production on the follow focus attachment. This will connect easily on the V3 and Pro II and allow you to mount whatever wireless follow focus you decide to operate.

You can purchase this option on Kickstarter in the next nine days for $50. If you have already pledged to our Kickstarter and want to add this option, then just increase your current pledge $50 and make a note to include the follow focus.

After Kickstarter, it will be for sale on our website for $100.

The Lenzhound is one company we have worked with who develops wireless follow focus. They also used Kickstarter to get their business up and running.  We will be making an instructional video using their unit on the Ghost later in the month.

Please share our Kickstarter. We only have 9 days to go.

Updated Firmware: 2_50b2

If you are currently an owner of the Ghost, we have released a new version of Firmware.

Before updating or making any changes in the software please save your current settings.

You can upload the newest firmware from this link:

Here is what has been updated:

  • User-written scripts (see Language Reference and user manual)
  • IMU temperature calibration and compensation.
  • New tool “Analyze” to make an analysis of system response.
  • Notch filters have an adjustable gain (0..100%)
  • “Motor outputs” settings group is changed to the per-profile basis
  • GUI and firmware support Bluetooth Low-Energy (BLE) module communication (experimental)
  • New setting group “Outer PI controller” to adjust values for outer (cascade) PI controller (default value is 100 suit most setups)
  • New option “Swap frame and main sensors” to use frame IMU as main IMU and vice versa
  • New option “Gyro deadband” to cut off gyro noise around zero (that may be audible as ‘white noise’ in heavy setups)
  • New option “I2C high-speed”. Use it carefully: high-speed mode may cause I2C errors.

  • Frame upside-down command loads default profile after reset
  • frame upside-down detection doesn’t work if “skip gyro calibration” is disabled.
  • acceleration limiter does not work properly with the big speed setting in the “Follow” mode: camera overshoots target position

ENCODER version:

  • New encoder type “Analog”.
  • Different encoder types may be assigned to a different axis
  • Option to adjust sound volume in the ‘beep by motors’ mode in the ‘Service’ tab
  • Bug fixed: frame upside-down switching is not correct
  • Several bugs fixed related to encoder calibration

Ghost V3 Supports Any Camera Setup

We just wanted to show an example of an awkward camera setup that still balances perfectly on the Ghost V3. With the rail design, you can balance just about any size camera.

Below is the Canon 5D Mark III with the battery extension grip, Sennheiser lav, and 24-105 lens on the Ghost V3.

This setup weighs in right at 5lbs.

Stretch Goal #1

Thanks to all of our backers, we have reached our goal on Kickstarter! However, the journey is not over yet. We still have 24 days left and some added rewards. Now, if we hit $50,000 we will include a protective case for free. Check out the awesome deals while they’re still available on Kickstarter.

We’re gathering opinions on which case to send you: soft shell or hard shell?

View the benefits and drawbacks to each below and share your thoughts. Thanks!

The V3 Just Got Lighter

We are more than 2/3rds funded thanks to everyone who has already helped back our project.

There are only 3 more Ghost V3’s left at the $1595 price point, so if you’re looking at purchasing don’t miss out on this offer.

We just did some final tweaks on the design to cut some more weight. The original elbows on the V3 gimbal were a little bulky, so we slimmed down the design and cut 100g off the total weight. This doesn’t compromise the strength but allows us to make the V3 even lighter.

Kickstarter is Live

Hey Everyone,

We just launched our Kickstarter for our three newest products – The Ghost V3, Ghost Grip, Ghost Pro II.
Kickstarter is a crowdfunding platform to help us raise the needed funds for production. We are a small company and manufacturing camera equipment requires significant funds.
Rather than getting investors, we are passing savings on to our customers in exchange for pre-ordering through Kickstarter. This is a win-win for everyone, so check out our Kickstarter and share it with anyone who might be interested.

Flying the V3 on a Hexacopter

This was our first aerial test with the Ghost V3. It is so lightweight that we were still getting 10-15 minute flights on a 10,000mah battery.
Their handlebars have a quick release, so you can go from handheld rig to aerial mount in seconds.

Kickstarter will be live this week, so keep an eye out for us posting it.

Kickstarter Deal

We will be launching our Kickstarter next week. We cannot tell you the exact day we are going live, however, the first 5 people to donate will receive the Ghost V3 for less than $1000. We have a lot of other awesome rewards as well. Every Kickstarter gimbal will be significantly lower than retail price, so stay tuned for more info.
